The prosecution continued their testimony Wednesday in a Fort Lauderdale courtroom against a man they said killed a 17-year-old girl and her unborn child.

On Oct. 2, 2009, Stephanie Rasbatt was eight months pregnant when she was found shot to death in a car in the parking lot of a Miramar Winn-Dixie. Rabatt was shot in the head and in the stomach, severing the baby's umbilical cord.

Broward State Attorneys brought in witnesses Wednesday testifying against Edward Jermain Babbs, 20. It is believed Babbs was the father of Rasbatt's unborn child.

Rasbatt's cousin, Javonna Boyd, said Babbs sent her text messages saying that the baby would ruin his life. Karen Moore, Rasbatt's mother, said Babbs showed no interest in taking responsibility for the baby and said he wished it were dead.

Babbs' attorneys contend that there is no physical evidence linking their client to the murder. The defense team did very little cross examination of the witnesses.

The prosecution will continue their case Thursday in Judge Bernie Bober's courtroom.
