Testimony in trial over pregnant teen's death continues
Thursday marked the third day of testimony in the case against 20-year-old Edward Jermaine Babbs.
Babbs is charged in the shooting death of Stephanie Rabsatt and her unborn son. In October 2009, Rabsatt, who was 8 months pregnant, was shot in the head outside a Miramar Winn-Dixie.
Investigators said the killer also shot Rabsatt in the stomach, severing the umbilical cord.
Babbs was believed to be the father of the unborn child.
On Thursday in court, Babbs' girlfriend, Moesha Dawkins, took to the stand. She testified that her boyfriend claimed he knew nothing about Rabsatt.
Also in court, the prosecution called several witnesses who were able to verify that the car the victim was found in was parked at Winn-Dixie the night of the killing.
Later, the prosecution plans to call Babbs' mother to take the stand.
So far, the defense has done little cross examination with the witnesses. They contend there is not enough physical evidence to charge Babbs with the killings.
